These systems are designed for maximum efficiency, keeping your space comfortable while conserving fuel and battery power—perfect for off-grid adventures and cold-weather travel.
Diesel Heater vs. Gasoline Heater
Diesel and gasoline heaters work almost identically in day-to-day use. The main difference is the fuel they draw from, not performance or heat output. In most cases, the best choice is simply matching the heater to your vehicle’s fuel to keep the installation clean, reliable, and easy to service long term.
Brands we Carry
Webasto heaters are known for long-term reliability and OEM-level integration. They’re a strong choice for customers who want a proven system with refined controls and consistent performance across a wide range of conditions. Webasto is often selected for high-end builds and commercial applications where longevity and fit-and-finish are a top concern.
Velit heaters offer modern features, strong output, and excellent value. They’re a good fit for customers who want efficient heating with contemporary controls and a simpler overall system. Velit is often chosen when performance and practicality are the priority without unnecessary complexity.
Espar heaters are widely used in fleet, overland, and commercial vehicles. They’re valued for durability, global parts availability, and predictable performance in cold weather. For customers who prioritize a well-established platform with broad service support, Espar is a dependable option.
Got Questions?
How much does heater installation cost?
$1,400 - $3,000. Installation of a fuel fired heater varies based on brand of heater, vehicle type, and a range of other factors that can complicate the install.
Can you install a gasoline heater in a diesel vehicle (or vice versa)?
Technically yes, but we usually don’t recommend it. Cross-fuel installs add complexity, extra components, and more failure points with no real benefit in most cases.
How much fuel do these heaters use?
Very little. Most setups burn a fraction of a gallon overnight, even in cold conditions. They’re designed for long run times without draining your tank.
How loud are diesel and gasoline heaters?
Inside the vehicle, they’re quiet enough to sleep through. Outside, you’ll hear a faint ticking from the fuel pump, and a whooshing noise from the exhaust. Proper mounting and tuning keeps noise minimal.
Are these heaters safe to run overnight?
Yes, when installed correctly. We use proper exhaust routing, combustion air separation, and safety standards so the heater runs safely while you sleep.
Is there any reason not to install one of these heaters?
If you don’t camp or work in cold conditions, you probably don’t need one. But if you use your van or RV year-round, it’s one of the highest comfort-per-dollar upgrades you can make.
